Basalt Stairs, and Pennsylvania Bluestone Walkway

 This West Vancouver Landscape Project was designed for a client who wanted access from his front yard down to the backyard pool area.  We excavated the wet grassy slope, and built a beautiful winding staircase of black basalt stair treads and Pennsylvania Bluestone.  Basalt boulders were used to terrace the landscaping and form sidewalls for the landscape stairs.  Nootka Cypress, Japanese Maple and Styrax trees are focal points at various stages of the walk, and hundreds of perennials provide colour and texture throughout the year.  Kichler LED lighting was used to illuminate the stairs and walkway.  The South property line was planted with 20 foot tall oak trees for privacy.  The project also included expanding the pool patio and driveway areas with matching paving stones.
